We’re SO excited to welcome our first EVER Youth Board at Chester Zoo. This dynamic group of young people from a multitude of backgrounds, are on a mission to empower young people to take action for wildlife.

What does the zoo mean to you?

Chester Zoo has always been, and will always remain one of my favourite places to visit. I consider myself very lucky to live near such a pioneering, global organisation working at the forefront of everything I am most passionate about. The zoo was also a major deciding factor in choosing to study my Zoology BSc at a nearby university, meaning I could take advantage of all the zoo’s assets which I know and love.

How have you supported the zoo?

I have been coming to the zoo with family and friends for as long as I can remember; giving donations, supporting the Chester Zoo shop, and interacting with the zoo’s social media platforms.

What do you hope to achieve in your role on the Chester Zoo Youth Board?

On a personal level, I really hope to gain some confidence through being exposed to different groups of people and being involved in the new experiences that the Youth Board has to offer. My wish is to also be a small part in showing that young people have important role to play within the world of wildlife conservation and preservation.

Why do you feel so connected and passionate about the zoo?

Thanks to my family, I have been brought to respect and admire the natural world and everything in it. Inevitably this lead to my ongoing enthusiasm for all things animal, and the science surrounding them and their habitats. For me, Chester Zoo’s ethos towards preventing extinction, and it’s engagement in raising awareness for endangered species, really communicates just how and why we should all take efforts to look after our wildlife.

NOW is the time to ACT FOR WILDLIFE. Conservation is CRITICAL; species are under threat. TOGETHER we can make a BIG difference. Take action TODAY and join us in PREVENTING EXTINCTION.
